MM: Arghoslent have been around for over a decade now, releasing material quite consistently. What was you main goal when you formed the band?
ARGHOSLENT: Our main goal was to play DEATH METAL the way we saw it proper. ARGHOSLENT’s mission has been only to generate prejudice, intolerance, and incorrigible bigotry, never to generate any income or profits. Our determination, our stance, our need to do things as we see them fit, that has plagued us with so many mishaps and barriers while making us unique at the same time.
MM: Lyrically, you’ve ventured into terrain that most bands dare not explore. Where do you draw your main influences from, lyrically and musically?
ARGHOSLENT: History, philosophy, and religion are the catalysts for our works. Our lyrical themes deal conjointly with the following topics: Historical revisionism, militarism, enslavement, colonization, eugenics, misogyny, genocide, tyranny, and homophobia. We deal specifically with ideas revolving around the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, the Conquistadors, and Greco-Roman-Teutonic grandeur.
MM: WOOD-NYMPH RECORDS, your label went bankrupt after a European-wide boycott of your releases, negative reviews and uncouth criticisms. Have you ever thought to yourselves that maybe you shouldn’t have ever done or said something?
ARGHOSLENT: None of our albums have been specifically boycotted or branded illegal in any European country, regardless of how leftist or repressed the country may be. Our previous label did have serious problems with distributors and other organizations due to other bands on their roster. We happened to receive the backspit of that ordeal. With the bankruptcy of such label, ARGHOSLENT suffered too. And, "NO" is the answer to your question. Bridges were built to be burned.
MM: Where can people get a copy of any of your previous releases?
Our debut release "Galloping Through The Battle Ruins" is available in cassette format from PROPAGANDA based in Ukraine, and in vinyl format from HELLFLAME PRODUCTIONS based in Italy (sunandiron@hotmail.com). All other shit can be obtained from the band directly.
MM: You latest album, Incorrigible Bigotry went down well here at Metal Mayhem and received 9/10. How has it been received worldwide?
ARGHOSLENT: Very little feedback or reviews. It is common for our released to go unnoticed in the underground media as it is in everyone’s best interest to keep our ideas suppressed and unknown. Much like our debut CD, which was sent to a myriad of zines/mags, the release is often ignored on grounds of its politically incorrect lyrics. I believe that this time, however, the censors will be unable to hide us under the rug any longer. This album is also being released by MORIBUND CULT in North America.
MM: What/Where was your greatest and worst moment as a band?
ARGHOSLENT: This venture has had no pinnacles. Embarking on this journey has been nothing but an arduous experience.
MM: Any plans to tour Europe?
ARGHOSLENT: That could only be determined by the demand and the ability of our label to finance it. Being a pessimistic realist I would opine that ARGHOSLENT will never play in Europe. We haven’t even played in America since 1998.
