Back to Interview List

MM: Since discovering Bleeding Doll, we have been very impressed with your work. When and how did it all start?
Bleeding Doll: Well thank you, it all began on a very dark and cold night last March, I had been promoting Black metal for a few years and decided to take it to the next step, I did at least a years research beforehand, and so it all started and I have been happy with what the bands have achieved.

MM: What bands do you have on your books?
BD: Currently, we have 6 artists, Gore Penetration, Malevolence, Nunfucker, Meatyard, Atrocious Devoured and Severed Head, we are planning to sign more as we progress.

MM: Are you good friends with all the bands?
BD: I would like to think so, we are very independant and i will not force a band into writing an album and saying "look, finish it before this time or i will kick you off" I regularly mail them and see that things are going well.

MM: How many promo's/demo's do you receive in a week from bands wanting to be signed?
BD: Quite a lot, it differs between weeks, I listen to everything sent to the office and im usually impressed with what I hear, if i like it, I usually ask for some more information and material and we will take it up to the next step.

MM: Apart from Bleeding Doll, what other things do you do?
BD: I have a lot of projects, currently I am talking with huge label Nuclear Blast and we are securing a first ever UK promo and street team department and that will be fun. I help several bands including nu-metallers JOR, and play drums for Youngsters Arcane Church here in Shrewsbury. I have been chatting with Mika from Impaled Nazarene about promotion with those guys too, and I offer a helping hand to British Gore movie maker Alex Chandon occasionaly, and so i might be given a wee job helping out with the new Cradle of Fear movie.

MM: If you could pick any three bands to appear on your label who would it be?
BD: That is a really tough question, I have become friends with a lot of big metal bands, so i couldn't give a straight answer, of course, it would have to be one of the inventors of the underground metal scene, take Mayhem for instance!

MM: Is everything going as planned with Bleeding Doll?
BD: Yes, our schedules get moved back occasionaly as bands like putting finishing touches to things, but when we release things or organise gigs, things usually get pulled off without a hitch, the direction of the label is just to help bands be known, I dont run it as a profit making exercise.

MM: What do you hope to achieve in the future?
BD: I would like to see a band that has been on Bleeding Doll Reach the big top, that would be satisfying greatly, but I would like to spend my life as a helping hand the the UK metal scene.

MM: Do you think Bleeding Doll will remain an extreme underground label or would you like to see your releases in shops on the High Street?
BD: Yes, I think so, I think we release things that are too extreme for distributors who deal with High street shops. Gore penetration are banned the length and breadth of Germany so I would rather see Bleeding Doll Inspire people and continue to pump out music that is frowned upon.

MM: Thanks for talking to us! Any final words.
BD: Well Thanks for the interview Chris! Bleeding Dolls official site is at www.bleedingdoll.cjb.net
