MM: How was the band formed?
Daynight: The band was formed in the year 2000 when Magnus convinced his old friend Robert to join the band. Andreas and Magnus knew each other since they had studied psychology together. They had thought about forming a band for a while before the band was actually formed. Ola was recruited the same way Lars Ulrish found Hetfield namely via a contactadd. We also have an extra guitarplayer by the name of Martin that has replaced Magnus guitarplaying during the last months. He is a friend of Ola.

MM: Your Demo EP sounds very promising, were you happy when you finished it and would you change anything if you had the chance to do it again? Daynight: Thank you! It was recorded and mixed during a zero amount of time and we were hardly satisfied with the result. There are countless things we would change if we would record it again. MM: Describe Daynight’s style of music in one sentence?
Daynight: Melodic retrometal influenced by powermetal and folkmusic!

MM: What\Who are your major influences?
Daynight: Robert is influenced by seventies band in general and Uriah Heep and Led Zeppelin in particular. Ola is influenced by more modern heavy metal bands like Iced Earth and Virgin Steele. Magnus is influenced by powermetal and folkmusic. Andreas likes instrumental music in general and instrumental music containing wild solos in particular.

What are the fans reactions to live gigs?
Daynight: Positive! Last Saturday we played for an audience who came to see Deathmetal but as the only none extreme band among 6 acts we actually got better reactions then any of the other support acts. We have had extremely few gigs during the past year however but we hope that it will be much more in the near future. MM: What has been the overall reaction to "Moment of your Time"? Daynight: Most of them have been positive at least when it comes to the songs.

MM: If you could play on a bill with three other bands who would they be?
Daynight: I guess that Zeppelin and Uriah Heep won´t reunite for us but playing with Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) plus Iron Maiden and Halford would be great.

MM: How does it feel to be included on Metal Mayhem Vol.I, and what do you hope this achieves?
Daynight: It feels great! We will hope that we will reach out to more people and get more attention. We want to show people that melodic metal is alive and kicking despite being "out of fashion" according to MTV!
