Back to Interview List

MM: Can you give us a bit about yourself and what role do you play in the band?
J: My name is Johan, I am the vocalist of Nine. I am twenty something, have a regular job and am just a regular Swedish misfit.

MM: When and how did Nine form?
J: Nine was formed in 1994. By me , Benjamin and Tor. We just got together to have some fun and we are still together.
MM: How did the name "NINE" come about?
J: I do not really know. We just wanted to have a short name that anyone could remember that did not stand for anything. When we started all the bands had really cool names and weird logos, we just wanted to keep it simple.

MM: You’ve not long started your tour with Entombed and Disfear, how are you finding it so far?
J: Sorry, it took me some time to answer this interview. The tour was very good. After that we did a tour with the Hope Conspiracy so we ended up doing 42 shows in 50 days.

MM: What do you miss most when you’re out on the road?
J: I miss home, my play-station, my wife and I miss Swedish food.

MM: Are you fans of Entombed?
J: Yes, we have been fans of Entombed since their day one. We have been fortunate to tour with them twice. Once in 1997 and then again this autumn.

MM: Why was the tour with Converge cancelled?
J: Converge had to cancel since they had other commitments.

MM: Who would you say is your major influences?
J: We are influenced by each other , all the bands we listened to growing up and bands that know how to kick ass.

MM: What was it that made you want to play metal and join a band?
J: I wanted to be like my heroes.

MM: Your latest album "Killing Angels" impressed us here and scored 9/10, how has it been received elsewhere, have you had much feedback yet?
J: Thanx for your support, we are very pleased with the outcome. It has been very well received everywhere.
MM: What would you say has been your worst and greatest moment as a band?
J: Worst and best moment- touring with Mötorhead.

MM: Are any of you involved in any side projects?
J: Robert- plays in Between Us(hardcore). I- play in Insula(sludgecore) and I.R.D. (crustcore). Tor- has a studio. So as you can see we keep ourselves pretty busy.

MM: What do you think of music on the internet and about webzines?
J: I think it is great that you can load songs and read interviews on the net. The only time it is bas is when people do not get their own opinion but just believes everything that is written on the message boards.

MM: And finally, what do you hope to achieve with Nine?
J: Just to have as fun as we possibly can.
